PRIVATE YOGA FOR SCOLIOSIS SESSIONS
Because each person with scoliosis has a unique curve pattern, private sessions are the best way to begin a Yoga for Scoliosis practice. In a one-on-one setting, you can learn about your spine, its specific curvature, and how it affects your posture, your gait, and your life generally. Yoga for Scoliosis private sessions are a perfect way to "take back" your spine, to gain strength and flexibility in a safe way for your body, and to develop a home practice that's tailored just for you.
Because this work is complex and cumulative, I've structured the sessions as 4 or 8 session packages, along with an initial consultation. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to set up a session.
Private Session Packages
Initial consultation: During this 90 minute session, we will discuss your scoliosis history as well as your goals for our work together. We will take a look at your curve pattern and try to help you gain a better understanding of your curve(s) and how it may affect your yoga practice and daily life. The first session will involve a light yoga practice, during which we will assess your overall alignment and movement patterns. This session is critical in setting the pace, goals and focus for our work together.
Four session package: Each 75 minute session will build upon the last to challenge and strengthen you in areas where you may have weakness or tightness. You will receive 2-3 poses for a daily home practice (chosen specifically for your curve pattern), so you can continue working between our structured sessions.
Eight session package: Each 75 minute session will build upon the last and by the end of the 8 sessions, you will have your own personally tailored 45-60 minute sequence for home practice. This sequence will be comprised of poses that awaken and elongate the spine, address your specific curve pattern, provide relief from pain and discomfort associated with scoliosis, and challenge and strengthen you in areas where you may have weakness or tightness.
Jen does an 'intake' at your first session and really gets to know your strengths and weaknesses and goals. She then devises a plan and each session builds upon the prior one, as she tweaks your program and encourages you to practice at home. It's a deep, meaningful, healing learning experience. A few sessions are just not enough for the full "Jen" experience!
